Aaron G. Wilkins was commander, Company A, 1st Battalion, 28th Marines, 5th Marine Division. He was killed leading his men in an assault on Mt. Suribachi on March 1st, 1945. He was posthumously awarded the Silver Star. Aaron was a Denver native, son of James Herbert and Margaret(Gove)Wilkins. He graduated from East Denver High School in 1938 and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve in 1941.
