Attended Colorado A&M until summer work at North Place in 1911 lasted too late in the season for him to start school in time and he became apprentice printer at the Fort Collins Review. Later worked as foreman at Larimer County Democrat and at Fort Collins Courier. Called into service August 9, 1918 and went to Camp McArthur. Member Company E, 2nd Replacement Battalion. Killed with 8 other Coloradans along with 19 Coloradans injured in train wreck in largest single day non-combat loss of troops in Colorado history.
