Biography

PFC Stamps entered the Army Air Corps December 30, 1940. He served as a Private First Class/Tec 4 with the 27th Material Squadron, 20th Air Base Group at Nichols Field AAF, Philippines. The 20th Air Base Group was part of the Far East Air Force. They surrendered to the Japanese at Nichols in the Spring of 1942.

Scott was held as a prisoner of war by the Japanese in the Philippines. What camp he was in was not clear from the Japanese records, although it is believed he was held at Cabanatuan. He died September 2, 1942 while in captivity from dysentery.

He was buried in the Manila American Cemetery, Manila and is remembered at the Cabanatuan Memorial, Manila.
