John W. "Will" Spicer was born about 1875 in Iowa. He married Blanche Cantonwine (1875-1968), daughter of David and Eliza (Elson) Cantonwine, on February 4, 1908 in Greeley, Weld Co., CO. Nine years later, on April 9, 1917, he was killed while serving in World War I as a Sgt. GS in the Army infantry. His wife Blanche, who died in Des Moines Iowa at the age of 92, never remarried.
