Walter O. "Buck" Shults,Jr. was born in De Nova, Washington County, Colorado on January 04 1919. He moved to Western Colorado as a young boy and graduated from Rifle High School in 1938. He enlisted in the United States Army on January 8, 1941. He died on April 21, 1945 in the Battle of Luzon in the Philippines. He received two Purple Hearts and a Silver Star for gallantry.
