Commonly called "Bud". Son of H.S. Rainwater of Bear Creek valley and brother of serviceman Charlie Rainwater and Mrs. James Ladd of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Attended agricultural college there where he was one of the most popular staudnets and took part in many activities. Enlisted at Caldwell, Idaho in early May 1918 and trained at Camp Lewis, Washington, Camp Kearney, California and Camp Mills, New York. Sailed August 18, 1918. Member Company D, 308th Infantry, 77th Division.
