Demolition expert with Company A, 11th Engineer Combat Battalion. During winter 1952 Company A was constructing access road through rock up a steep mountain to develop the Kansas Line. Explosives accident killed Sergeant Nelson on December 9, 1952. Awarded Bronze Star, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Korean War Service Medal.
