Born and grew up in Los Angeles. Came to Golden in 1913 to attend Colorado School of Mines and was a member of Kappa Sigma. Enlisted in the aviation section in fall 1917 with the 52nd Aero Squadron. Trained at aviation field at Berkeley, California and later transferred to Long Island. His airplane, a Curtis "H" machine, crashed during training exercises, also killing 2nd Lt. C.S. Gideon. Crash possibly due to wing damage.
