Commonly called "Bud". Youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jaycox. Grew up in Golden and graduated Golden High School in 1936, where he was prominent in athletics and starred on the football and basketball teams. Also was a star player on the Coors baseball and basketball teams and on the team of the Jefferson County Republican newspaper. Attended Colorado State College of Education in Greeley for 1 year and married Charlotte Pease of Golden on January 8, 1941. Worked at Coors Porcelain plant for several years and then at Remington Arms plant. Entered the military in March 1944 and received training at Camp Roberts and Ford Ord, California. Went overseas with the 145th Infantry. Had daughter Carolynn Marie Jaycox, brother of Corporal William E. Jaycox. Awarded Purple Heart.
