Son of Hattie Hopewell of Brushy Knob, Missouri. Enlisted at Denver on May 29, 1914. Served aboard submarine USS A-7 patrolling off Manila. Died from burns and smoke inhalation after internal gasoline explosion and fire in Manila Bay.
