Son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry M. Briggs. Was athlete at North High School in Denver and graduated in 1939. Brother of Coast Guard member Kenneth Briggs, Don Briggs and 2 sisters. Died when USS Escanaba hit mine and sank rapidly in frigid waters during the Battle of the Atlantic. Body never recovered.
