Worked as a miner. Entered service from Colorado. Member Company K, 1st Colorado Volunteers. Wounded by severe gunshot wounds to the arm and shoulder on May 1, 1899 while conducting scouting mission near Maraquina at outposts of San Mateo. Wounds failed to heal properly and he died during amputation surgery at Military Hospital. Cpnsidered one of the honored sons of the regiment. Described by Harley West as "cheerful, as he always was...a brave, congenial and noble-hearted comrade; one that every man in the regiment loved and esteemed."
