Biography

Son of Allen Ross and Maggie Maude Reeves Bennett. Brother of paratrooper John Allen Bennett, Richard Forrest, James Kenneth, Glen Wilson, and George Lee Bennett, and Naomi Dee Bennett Tompkins and Ruth Marie Bennett Post. Joined Marines while living with sister Mary Lorene Bennett Houston and brother-in-law in Denver in 1939. Became one of "4th China Marines" serving in Shanghai for 3 years and sent to Bataan just before Pearl Harbor was attacked. Wounded in Battle of Corregidor and reported discharged from hospital in Malinta tunnel the day Corregidor fell. No one is known to have seen him since. Member Company A, 4th Marines, 1st Battalion. Awarded Bronze Star, POW Medal, Purple Heart and other awards.
