Biography

Son of Mary I. Aldrich. Moved to Kansas as a child. After finishing school worked on the Americus Greeting. Entered service from Colorado on May 1, 1898. Member Company E, 1st Colorado Volunteers. While on the Mariquina Road four companies were serving as outposts and sent forward pickets into the heart of enemy territory, of whom Aldrich was shot through the left shoulder March 20, 1899. Blood poisoning made arm amputation necessary at the Military Hospital, which operation he did not survive.
