A temporary memorial was set up at the Colorado Freedom Memorial site throughout the Memorial Day weekend. Colorado residents who have a loved one or friend killed, or missing, in action, or a comrade they served with who died in action, were invited to come to the makeshift wall on Memorial Day weekend and tell us about that person. Over 1000 people came to the site over the four-days we were there. Families came and parents explained the sacrifice of the men and women on the Memorial to their children; veterans came, alone, and sat quietly reflecting on their personal experience; many cried, others never uttered a sound, but it was important to every single person that came.
