Son of Carl Oscar and Mary Burrows Strom. Brother of Stanley Strom and Marguerite Strom Glass of Castro Valley, California. Moved to farm southwest of Yuma while a child. While a senior a Yuma Union High School he enlisted in December 1949. Trained at Fort Riley and sailed to occupation service in Japan on May 9, 1950. Sent to front in Korea on July 12, 1950. Killed while defending city of Taejon when it fell to enemy forces, but body found when city recaptured. Originally interred at Toggok Cemetery in Korea. Member Company H, 19th Infantry, 24th Infantry Division. Awarded Purple Heart.
