Biography

Member Covenanter Church of La Junta, having joined October 27, 1912. Enlisted in the Coast Artillery on May 28, 1918. Trained at Fort Logan and Fort Winfield Scott at San Francisco where he became Corporal. Next served at Camp Eustice, Virginia, and sailed from Newport News to France on October 21, 1918. Remembered by church as "a choice young man. He had been given personal graces which were a rare possession. He had a winning disposition which found expression, among other ways, in a cheery smile which those who knew him will never forget. He radiated cheerfulness in the home, the church and the community. In his church life his presence and services were specially valuable in the Sabbath school and Young People's Society."
