Circumstances Killed In Action. In The General Attack Of November 30, They Advanced Across Open Fields To The Village Of Welz. Their Company Commander, Capt Kinsey, Was Killed In The Assault. Their Squad Went Off To The Left And Set Up Their Machine Gun In A Two-Man Hole. About Noon, Ben Was Manning The Gun; Donald Van Vleet Was Lying By The Hole. They Heard A Swoosh, Then An Explosion. When Van Vleet Regained Consciousness, He Could See No Trace Of Ben And The Gun. Van Vleet Was Severely Wounded, And Was Carried From The Field By Sgt Epps.
