Son of Walter and Lula Hooper. Attended Anderson University in Indiana and joined Army November 19, 1948. Member Company I, 3rd Battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. Taken POW in combat against Chinese forces in South Korea February 4, 1951. Died POW in a Suan transitional camp on June 30, 1951. Remains recovered at Namjon-Gu on May 29, 1992 and identified September 28, 2010. Buried in Stratton on November 13, 2010. Awarded Combat Infantryman's Badge, Prisoner of War Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation and Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
