Biography

Son of Mr. and Mrs. W.P. Hendrix. Married to Anna Mae Vickers Hendrix and had infant daughter. Brother of Pfc. William Doyle Hendrix who was wounded in action in the Philippines on March 23, 1945. Brother of Paul Hendrix also in armed service, and Marivn and Dick Hendrix of Pueblo and Hazel Hendrix of La Junta. Identical twin brother of Robert (Bob) Hendrix. Both brothers graduated Huerfano County High School class of 1940 and went to Canada to serve in the war with Royal Canadian Air Force. While on furlough Robert drowned in a lake near Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Later Ralph returned to United States and enlisted on May 19, 1943 as pilot in the Navy. Trained at Corpus Christi, Texas. Flew a number of important flights including a flight over Tokyo. Killed when his aircraft carrier was attacked by kamikaze planes. Awarded Distinguished Flying Cross.
