Biography

Sister of Mrs. Crosby Hoar of Denver, Mrs. P. Randolph Taylor of Washington D.C., Blanche Hendricks of Lynchburg, Virginia, Carolina Lee Hendricks, and a brother. One of 22 women other than nurses who died in the service of the American Red Cross who had enlisted for service overseas. Worked at Pueblo land office as head stenographer and typist and applied for a year's unpaid lead to service the troops in France. Described by Receiver Orman and Register Dameron as "efficient, conscientious, loyal and patient...Her life was consecrated to the welfare of the soldiers 'over there'." Prominent in local Red Cross as gauze instructor at night classes as it was not possible for her to work there during the day. Was private secretary to director of supplies of American Red Cross in Paris and also did canteen service.
