Commonly called "Lory". Son of Mr. and Mrs. A.S. Harris and grandson of Civil War veteran Alonzo S. Harris of Golden. Born and raised in Eaton and graduated Eaton High School. Married Alice Meek on May 16, 1941, after which the couple moved to Golden where Harris worked as a carpenter under prominent building contractor Charles J. Buckman. Was member of Golden carpenters union and later worked on the construction of Lowry Field. Enlisted in the Seabees and left for service on October 8, 1942. Brother of Richard Harris of Eaton and nephew of Mrs. Harley Diltz of Golden.
