CPL Felidelphio Gomez was the son of Ignacio and Catherine Gomez of Trinchera CO. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps in Denver CO on July 30, 1962 in Denver CO. A veteran of over four years, he was assigned for duty with Company A, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st MARDIV (Rein) FMF in Vietnam.

While on patrol in Chu Lai, north of Tuyet Diem hamlet, in Binh Son District, the Marines were fired upon by six VC wounding three men. Cpl Gomez died as a result of a wound to his right thigh which severed the artery.
