First Jefferson County casualty of World War II. Son of Mr. and Mrs. George Arnold Davis. Born in Denver and lived in Jefferson County all his life including his family's farm at Fairmount. Member of Fruitdale Baptist Church. Graduated from Fairmount School and attended Golden High School where he was a favorite among his classmates and played freshman football. Left high school to enlist in Navy in January 1941, and while on leave in April 1941 gave a talk to high school class about his work and activities in the service. Served aboard USS Helena and died at his post when torpedo hit ship during attack on Pearl Harbor. Brother of Marie Davis.
