Son of Barnard and F. Hilda Burdin Cummings. Graduated from West Point, USMA Class of 1949. Platoon leader with 8th Airborne Ranger Regiment, 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team. Reported missing while fighting Chinese in area of Kuni-ri, North Korea November 26, 1950. Status changed from MIA to presumed KIA on February 15, 1954, remains not recovered. Awarded Silver Star, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation and Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
