Alan W. Bedwell was killed in the Oct 24, 1944 sinking of the unmarked WWII POW ship Arison Maru while a prisoner of the Japanese. Approximately 1800 POWs died in this attach.
He was captured in the battle of Corregidor while serving with the 59th Coast Artillery Regiment (Army Battery C)
Some records indicate PFC Bedwell was being held as a prisoner by Japan at a location known as POW Camp 10 Batanges Batanges Luzon Philippines. Alan W Bedwell is memorialized at Tablets of the Missing at Manila American Cemetery, Manila, Philippines.
