Graduate of Fruita Union High School, 1936, enlisted Feb. 1 1938 and served continuously. He was a veteran of 4 battles in World War II. His outfit left for Korea Aug 23 and fought in the Inchon landing. He was serving with the First Division. Raymond served in the following WWII battles, Rol-Namu, Saipan (Charon-kanoa), Tinian(Coral) and Iwo Jima(Red). A regimental sergeant major of the 24th mariens, fourth division, he ws commissioned on the field at Iwo Jima. 1945 he was stationed at Quantico, Va. and married Theda McKim June 1, 1946 in Akron. He had no children and Theda passed away a few years ago.
