In God We Trust Mass and Event Returns to Colorado Freedom Memorial

Denver, Colo. – Archbishop Samuel J. Aquila and the Archdiocese of Denver will celebrate a special “In God We Trust Mass” on Saturday, September 18 in honor of military veterans and their families. Bishop Joseph Coffey, who serves as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese for Military Services and Episcopal Vicar for Veterans Affairs, will concelebrate the Mass alongside Archbishop Aquila.

“We are very excited to have Bishop Joseph Coffey of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, joining us this year,” said event co-host Rick Crandall. “I think his presence shows how important this event and the Colorado Freedom Memorial is for our military veteran community.”

An outdoor Catholic Mass will be held at 11 a.m. at the Colorado Freedom Memorial in Aurora, Colorado. The Air Force Color Guard will present the United States and military flags representing all six branches of the military. Music will be performed by the Air Force Academy Cadet Choir.

This will mark the second year for the event, which is organized by members of the Archdiocese of Denver’s Diaconate to honor those who have served, and also offer outreach and other resources to those who may have fallen away from their faith as a result of war-induced trauma. This year, as a special invitation back to the faith and Church, the Diaconate will distribute a limited-edition military challenge coin to attendees, a commemorative token meant to encourage veterans to return to the Catholic Church and grow in their faith.

Media is invited to preview or attend this special celebration.
